Ceramitec ´97 - 100 days
after
100 days is a period after which a statesman
usually has to strike a first balance. Why not also a company and its products? About 3
months ago data M Engineering presented its redesigned decal cutting machine
and decal aligner
for the ceramic industry - with great success.
The first impression has been proved after 100 days. Our customer Precision Studios,
England has already installed one of these new decal cutting machines at his factory in
England.
This machine is capable of cutting up to 50 sheets simultaneously and is over 70%
quicker than its predecessor.
After using the forrunner of this machine for more than 3 years, Precision are delighted
with the new machine´s performance and say ´It´ s the best thing since sliced bread
!´.
data M have already sold a number of these machines and also offer an upgrade for earlier
versions. |

COPRA MetalBender: Sheet Metal Design for AutoCAD/ Mechanical
Desktop
data M offers new versions of its software solution for design and unfolding
of sheet metal parts.
Even complex sheet metal parts
can be designed using AutoCAD and COPRA MetalBender 3D
software package.
Dialogue boxes, integrated previews and collision checks as well as the so-called
´WINDOWS-look-and-feel´ user environment are some of the effective design- and editing
features.
Design and unfolding of profiles or box-type geometries can be done easily by
COPRA MetalBender 2D.
It is tailored to users who want to work in 2D designs but also hold with 3D volume
modelling:
contours designed by CMB 2D can be converted into a solid model by CMB 3D.
COPRA MetalBender HVAC
(Heating Ventilation and AirConditioning) is a parametric unfolding library for HVAC metal
parts.
It includes the calculation of blanks with all intersection curves.
The user can choose from various options in order to define the output format (display the
blank as a membrane or layer model, intersections as continous or dotted lines etc.).
CMB HVAC is able to unfold 3D sheet metal parts designed as an AutoCAD/ AMD-internal ACIS
model: just pick the part by the cross hairs. |

Updates from Genius Sheet to
COPRA MetalBender

(the former version of CMB 2D/3D) to the actual version of COPRA MetalBender. You may also

The new version is compatible to Genius as well.

COPRA - rollforming on workstations into
the year 2000
Even if UNIX is - in some cases
- not predicted the best future: there are still many reasons for data M to continue
development and support this platform. The actual version has been released for
CoCreates PE/ME10 - Version Box and operating system HP-UX 10.20.
By the way: the magical number 2000 (new millenium) wont be critical for COPRA
users.
One important item among the new features is the possibility to verify different down-hill
forming strategies within COPRAs DTM (Deformation
Technology Module). Thus the user is able to check and change different forming methods in
order to reduce strain values during the roll forming process.
In addition COPRA DTM has got data import- and export functionality for data exchange with
different data software programs.
Of course, COPRA works with the new graphics-bonds visualize fx² and fx4 from
Hewlett Packard.
COPRAs archiving functions have been adapted according to ME10-philosophy. It is now
displayed in a ME10-internal file-list. Loading and saving of COPRA-archives is being done
similar to ME10. All of the COPRA modules have been redesigned in order to make it more
user-friendly.
Also the so-called ´round to shape´ functionality has been integrated into COPRA Tube
& Pipe. This allows the calculation of sizing passes for the production of shaped
tubes.

Since January 1998 Autodesk Mechanical Desktop 2.0 has
become available everywhere. The recently integrated kernel ACIS 3.0 increases performance
as well as 3D-design possibilities. data M has anounced to release its COPRA MetalBender
software also in a version for Mechanical Desktop.

Solver is the name of the youngest product in data
Ms family. CMB Solver is a software tool for everyone designing sheet metal parts
with AutoCAD 13/14. Its a COPRA MetalBender light not having design
libraries and not having a 3D editor.
CMB Solver is 100% integrated in AutoCAD or Mechanical Desktop. It calculates the flat
plattern - including overbending radii - of your 3D-design.
Calculation is done within seconds - taking into account the same extensive number of
machine parameters, material properties or pratical knowledges as its big brother
CMB 3D.
You have just to make sure that the part is a sheet metal part which (also physically) can

Director Asia

of Mr. Budi Francisco to its engineering sales group. In his new position Mr. Francisco
will be responsible for all phases of marketing, sales and after sales support especially
in the Asian and Pacific Rim region. A graduate in Business Administration/ Mechanical
Engineering from the Polytechnical University of Munich, Mr. Francisco has more than 5
years of experience in computer aided design and manufacture of roll form tooling. data M
Software and Engineering GmbH is the developer of COPRA, a computer program for
rollforming and tube&pipe design. data M also develops quality inspection systems and
offers design- and engineering services. |
